New Poll - Chinese New Year
It's the Lunar New Year, so why not do a poll related to that? We did this poll 11 years ago, and we had more dragons than any other animal. In case you don't know, your Eastern zodiac (of which the most well known is the Chinese one, but most other Eastern countries have a variation of it) is determined by your birthdate. If you're curious, there's sites out there that will calculate it for you. Just Google it!

I'm surprised there's still a bit of a bell curve when the difference between each consecutive option is only a year. Or people are just choosing whatever sounds coolest or most familiar but also don't want to say they don't want to look it up.
EDIT: Alright, it's evened out more now that more votes have come in

Hmm...maybe it's not really all that strange, cuz for example, in my year there was a baby boom so it's only natural there'd be more of us than the other groups, respectively.
Could be similar reasons for a baby boom or decline in every country in some years.
Well, I sure hope no one randomly clicked it, because there is the option of I don't know/care.

Don't know about other countries, but in Latvia most (I'd say all, but there probably are some who don't know or care) people know their zodiac animal and horoscope sign, as we call them, so I suppose both western and eastern zodiacs? - we kind of pay attention to both just to know what it is, but other than that that's about it - we don't pay any other extra special meaning to it, sometimes are just like - oh yeah, that or that so fits your zodiac/horoscope, more for jokes XD
I'm a monkey (and scorpion).
Thou I've always thought it'd be so cool to be a dragon XD
Alas, no one in my family is a dragon - we've got a pig, ox, tiger, rabbit and snake.

Year of tiger for me. Russians tend to know both their Chinese and Western zodiac. I even had a horoscope specifically for tiger virgo

I'm South Asian, but in our culture we use our own spin on the Western zodiac and don't consider the Eastern zodiac at all for some reason. Which means my "actual" sign is Libra, "Western" sign is Gemini, and Eastern is sheep/goat/ram. 🤣

My Chinese zodiac is the dog. To be more specific, the wood element. 😄
» zarlan on February 13th, 2021, 2:49pm
Rat. Wood element.
That's just going by the zodiac of the year. (you also have separate signs, for the month, day, and hour you were born. I could, for example, mention that one of my other signs is tiger with the element fire, but I wont say for which of those. If I list 'em all, I might as well say my birth date. Not the most sensitive of personal data, but still…)
Astrology is all utter absurd nonsense, of course …but that doesn't stop me having an interest.

My Chinese Zodiac is Monkey. I always thought it was Rooster until I went to China and was told it's calculated by Lunar Year so I actually fall in the year of the Monkey. Haha. It's fun to know but I don't really believe in anything supersticious regarding zodiac and horoscopes. 😉

Goat, sheep, or ram (specifically, metal/gold)
Not much to argue here. The only interesting thing I have to add is that I'm *also* an Aries--born in late March, 1991. Double ram, baby!
I also wonder how many respondents born in January don't realize that the year on the gregorian calendar actually isn't precise.... If you were born before Chinese New Year in your year of birth, a simple google search will return the wrong zodiac symbol--you actually need to check with one of those online calendar calculators like to verify.

That's rather funny when you consider that the Greeks, Egyptians, and the Meso-Americans didn't have the technology we do today, yet were far more accurate when it come to things like astrology and the calendar.

I think I learned about zodiacs from Fruits Basket mostly before I did from real life. Then probably star signs from Fairy Tail. Now Dragon is obviously the best, and Cancer so i can make jokes about being cancer, but back then I was disappointed being the "boring" character in both shows (one off from Rabbit and one off from Leo), ah youth.

I didn't think much of this poll at first, but now that I see the results, it's kinda cool that we have readers of manga of all ages! 😀
