Stick to romance and only romance if you can't draw action

Pros: Fluff. Enough pining and drama to keep you engaged for a time. Avoids a few cliches but...

1. The manga is bloated. The story should have ended in max 15 chapters.
2. There are walls of text, interactions and flashbacks that add 0 nuance or insight into the story
3. Author made a bad decision to write crime drama sub genre, with ZERO ability to draw anything beyond blushing faces. If she spent more effort learning to draw action scenes instead of useless stencilled background every panel she might have made a more convincing story. The action art is beyond disgusting. This author is adding to the "women can't draw action scenes" stereotype. [Begs forgiveness from FMA author-sama]
4. The entire crime-drama genre was a shallow, lazy and poorly written device to drag the manga on and on and on.
5. The villains placements are terrible. It's like their entire motives amounted to nothing more than getting in MCs way of getting hooked up. How conceited do you have to be to expect pro hackers and shite to devote their entire life to get in the way of your love life?

This isn't trashiest trash. But it's 4 out of 10 for wasting people's time with nonsense.

This was one of the very first shoujo mangas I thoroughly enjoyed. Teru is such a likable heroine. She has her stupid times but overall she's competent and reliable--that's probably why she's a scholar. I've read this a long time ago, and I still hope that people will come to appreciate this manga. It has a unique storyline and really interesting characters.

The Greatest Shoujo

This is THE greatest shoujo I have read in my lifetime, and I've read hundreds of series! I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I felt warmth in my heart. It is a masterclass in storytelling.

Kyousuke Motomi knows how to inject psychological elements and unique character motivation to make an incredibly thoughful and complex story. And there's so much depth to the story. Complex relationships and deep themes are explored throughout all events. Multiple times in the story characters are motivated towards betrayal or evil deeds (such as vol. 2). Characters have clear motivation and have complex reasoning for their actions, and other characters respond accordingly.

1. Teru is my favorite female character in any work. She's the perfect example of how to do a female MC.
2. Kurosuki's backstory in volume 8 is tied for my favorite narrative backstory for a character (tied with Kekkaishi's vol 8 backstory for Gen Shishio).
3. The explanation for Sou's death... again, masterclass in writing. I think about that logical and believable but still gut-wrenching explanation countless times.

If I had to change anything about the series, while virtually everything in the series was flawless, I would make these tiny changes:
1. I would change the scene towards the end in the bio classroom, because it was unrealistic
2. Different explanation for the SIM card Sou left
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I still don't understand why she chose not to have Sou leave Teru part of his code or just anything valuable on the SIM card, it would have made more sense in the story than to omit it

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Just a bit more time in the end to feature Akira and the school nurse together, she really became a mother figure to him and I feel that wasn't revisited to satisfaction in the final chapters

4. Some scenes in the way end felt very action-movie in a way that didn't fit the style of the work so far

Anyways, I could go on about the triumphs of this series but just read it yourself and have your life changed.

Such a journey

I cried at least 10 times I'm not even joking.

This manga was such a journey. I'm going to say off the bat that not everyone is going to enjoy this because it's definitely a shoujo but it's not your usual sappy high school romance. It's more about the drama and development of relationships and characters more than the romance.
I think the most important thing is that you can't go into this expecting romance. because you won't find it that easily. Teru and Kurosaki's relationship develops through their struggles and insecurities, situations thrown at them and how they deal with it together and not through your typical blushy atmospheric scenes where they swear their love for eachother. Yes, the romance is there but it's there in a less obvious and, in my opinion, a much more realistic way than your usual shoujo. That's one of the things that made me love this couple.

Leading on, Teru and Kurosaki are honestly one of the most believable couples out there. During the whole of the manga, you can see their relationship get stronger and stronger because of such situations. I can say the same to the main characters too. Teru has an amazing character development and so does Kurosaki, they learn to trust.

I especially love Akira. The things he went through were dark and it added a nice mature twist to a shoujo.
All in all, some of the best characterisations I've ever read.

The story is confusing as hell at times. It's intricate and interesting but I can see how some say it drags on and gets boring. There are a lot of sharp turns and things jump from one way to another quite quickly and I had to go over some chapters again to try and figure out what the story was trying to say. The explanations are wordy and use terminology that I didn't understand but in the end, it's worth it to understand.

I gave it a solid 10 although I do have to say,

the ending was super cute with the foreshadowing of the baby but it felt a little unfinished? Like I wanted to know what actually happened with their relationship after Teru left high school?
And more fluffy romance scenes would have been nice. Anyway serious review over my god imdying I love them so much. This manga,,, this manga left me in a pool of feels and tears. It's one of those reads you can't get over and you wish never ended ugh. I love. Kurosaki and Teru. What am I going to do with my life now

Multiple scanlation groups

Teru is the best female lead of any shoujo I've read! She's strong, smart, insightful, not romantically dense, doesn't create silly drama, and she contributes to the character development of the male lead. The relationship is totally believable and there's a nice friends vibe along with the romantic one.

My main purpose in writing this review is to note that multiple scanlation groups translated a number of the chapters, including the chapters (somewhere between 30 and 40) that give Kurosaki's entire backstory. One of the groups did an iffy job in translation and the text is quite confusing (if not incomprehensible), so if you're confused, look up the scanlations of the other group.

It seems boring at first, but stick with it. This manga is one of my favorites, and I've now read hundreds and hundreds. The characters are all likable and charming, and the relationships are this manga's biggest strength. The plot is a little slow at times, but it absolutely picks up: you must be patient! In the meantime, both the light-hearted episodes and sadder, deeper chapters are all there for a reason. They build the character development so that the interactions make sense and are believable.

I highly recommend this manga. Teru is strong, reliable, and will impress you again and again. The story is fascinating and very different from the norm.

I think the story kind of tried too hard... it's nice that the work didn't JUST focus on the main characters' relationship but also the community that supports them. And the whole conspiracy thing was pretty interesting too. but in the end, it made the story drag on a bit, and put Teru and Takusu's budding relationship on the back burner. It had its funny moments (so many) and it also conveyed some life lessons. I just wish there was more about the romance plot and more lighthearted stuff even with Akira too. He was so cute at the end I wish there was more about how he and Kurebayashi Team got along :/ To conclude: it was an interesting read to say the least but it's not one of those mangas I would wanna go back and reread.

Dengeki Daisy has it all. Motomi Kyousuke has always brought strong, intelligent characters to her other works (particularly her heroines), but I think Kurebayashi Teru is in her own league. Kurosaki as well, of course - a conflicted hero who takes the role of "protector" to a whole new level and easily one of my favorites to date. Their relationship is one marked by such trust, understanding and absolute devotion that it's hard to separate them even in discussion or review. It's rare to have a series these days where the romance is so well-written and functional that you know they'll continue living happily down the line, even when the series ends and the pages run out, but Dengeki Daisy manages just that. Even the extremely likeable cast of supporting characters get their turn in the spotlight (Sou!), and the rollercoaster ride of a story is satisfactorily wrapped up. This is one story where you can be certain you won't flip the last page and think, "Huh? That's it?" It may have taken awhile to build, but Dengeki Daisy is memorable and well-worth reading - I don't know why it took me so long to pick it up.

Boring as hell

This one is impossible to finish. Starts out as an easy read that just flows quickly despite not being either very exciting or very interesting - just a slightly above average common manga. Then around the middle it changes tone and drags on, and on and on and ON. I simply lost the willpower to go on with it and despite a completionist streak I decided life's too short to spend on a manga that gives me zero pleasure.
